NEW LIVING ROOM FOR PATIENTS ADMITTED ON THE 5TH FLOOR OF HOSPITAL DEL MAR
Patients admitted on the fifth floor of Hospital del Mar will soon be able to enjoy a new MAR room, a waiting room that will be transformed into a living room to enhance the stay of the admitted individuals, their families, and companions.
The renovation works for the new space began on May 21st and are expected to be completed between the first and second week of June. We share with you some images of the evolution of the works:
This initiative stems from the co-creation processes implemented to understand the needs and experiences of the center's users, to identify improvement possibilities, and for the use and design of spaces and equipment. In this sense, the conceptualization of the living rooms is based on understanding these spaces as meeting, disconnecting, and relaxing areas for patients and their companions, with the philosophy of offering them an area where they feel at home.
The interior design of the project was led by Estudi Aura and it has been designed with warm colors, comfortable furniture, compartmentalized areas, and spaces for conversation, reading, or simply enjoying moments of intimacy. And all with extraordinary views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Fundació Amics de l'Hospital del Mar in collaboration with the Fundació Nous Cims, was already involved in a similar experience in 2020 with the waiting room transformed into a living room for patients waiting to receive chemotherapy treatment, Domum MAR.
In the following years, two more hospitalization floors, the fourth and seventh floors, as well as the waiting room of the ICU and the information room, have been renovated thanks to the support of companies like Palex and donations from anonymous and compassionate individuals who, together with the Friends of Hospital del Mar Foundation, aim to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of patients and their families.
