In 2018, more than 40,000 cancer cases were diagnosed in Catalonia, 1.5% more than the previous year and 9% more than six years ago. Lung cancer was the 4^th most diagnosed and the one with the most delicate prognosis.

Hospital del Mar is a benchmark in the diagnosis of lung cancer and in the application of the most advanced treatments based on immunotherapy. This treatment stimulates the immune system to attack the tumour cells, which slows down the growth of the tumour. It is less toxic than chemotherapy and even improves the quality of life of the patients.

This is why the Friends of Hospital del Mar Foundation and APRO, the Association for Oncological Research, have joined forces to advance its diagnosis and treatment.
