700 people marching for research into Alzheimer's and other dementias

The MarinaWalkTrail has once again filled the Serralada de la Marina with walkers to raise funds for research into Alzheimer's and other dementias. There are already ten editions of this solidarity initiative, promoted by the Fundació Amics de l'Hospital del Mar and the Fundació Pasqual Maragall. 700 people have registered, among them, the Minister of Health, Dr. Olga Pané, the mayor of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Mireia González, and the second and fifth deputy mayors of the City Council of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Blanca Padrós and Sara Martínez.

Walkers of all ages have enjoyed two routes, one familiar, five kilometers, and one more demanding, eleven kilometers, which have allowed them to enjoy the natural landscape of the Serralada de la Marina, with departure and arrival at the Torribera, in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Their effort will serve to give a boost to the research being carried out at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, while practicing a healthy sporting activity that provides multiple health benefits.

The initiative has had the support of the Centre de salud mental Dr. Emili Mira and the sponsorship of Desigual, Tecnisample and Fríobox, Pinearq and bonÀrea. And the collaboration of the Diputació de Barcelona, Sodexo, the program La Mar de Saludable of the Hospital del Mar, the Centre Excursionista Puigcastellar, Agrícola Alt Empordà, Nueces de California, Condis and Sphere Pro. The participants received a gift from Desigual.
