Make a donation in your will for the progress of medicine

In 2021 in Catalonia, 3.2 million euros were donated through inheritances and legacies. Throughout Spain this amount amounts to 33.8 million euros, 31% more than the previous year, according to data from the platform Haz Testamento Solidario.  

In addition we want to highlight that the most supportive are still women with 58% of all solidarity wills, compared to 42% of men. As for the vital moment, the fact that more and more people are making a will from 60 to 69 years old. 

According to the results of this study, the average amount of donation is around 79,904 euros. Regarding the type of bequeathed property, cash amounts continue to be the most frequent, although securities, real estate, jewellery and works of art are also perceived. 

Wills for Hospital del Mar 

Hospital del Mar has historically received legacies from people committed to the progress of medicine. In fact, thanks to a recent inheritance, the Hospital will be able to advance cancer research with a data integration platform that improves precision oncology, integrating clinical and omics data from patients. This platform, which was currently analysing data from only one type of cancer, will incorporate the study of five more types of cancer. 

How to do it? 

You can leave a part of the assets to the progress of medicine by naming the Friends of the Hospital del Mar Foundation in the will. At the time of making a will in front of a notary, only the following information must be specified: Fundación Amigos del Hospital del Mar, CIF: G66536947, company name: Paseo Marítimo 25-29, 08003 Barcelona
